What We Can Expect in the Next-Generation INFINITI QX80
For the past two generations, the INFINITI QX has been the face of luxury. While the current second generation has been in production since 2010, the QX has received two facelifts since – one in 2015 when it was renamed the QX80 and another in 2018. With those two facelifts, the QX80 has largely remained the same, but that is about to change.
INFINITI has recently unveiled a new QX monograph concept which the brand claims is a preview of future INFINITI designs. But this concept looks quite familiar and gives us a glimpse of the upcoming SUV.
A Clean but Familiar Design
The next INFINITI QX80 is poised to regain its commanding road presence with a bold and contemporary exterior design. While specifics may evolve, we can expect a balance between timeless and elegance and modern aesthetics. Sleek lines, a prominent grille, and striking LED lighting are likely to grace the front fascia. Expect refinements that enhance aerodynamics and visual appeal, contributing to the SUV’s overall luxurious aura.
Interior Luxury and Comfort
According to Top Speed, the 2025 QX80 should have an all-new interior with modern technology and screens. In fact, the redesigned INFINITI QX60 should give us an idea of how the new QX80 would look inside. A fully digital instrument cluster and infotainment system screen should be standard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities.
Other expected features should be:
- A wireless charging pad
- Heated and cooled seats
- Panoramic glass roof
- Ambient lighting
- Keyless Entry and more
Performance and Powertrain
INFINITI has always aimed to provide a balanced blend of power and efficiency, and the next-generation QX80 will likely follow suit. The current QX80 features a naturally aspirated V-8 engine, which is an updated unit of the original engine used in the first generation QX80. We can expect to see the V-8 replaced with a V-6 engine similar to rivals such as Toyota.
It will likely receive a new twin-turbo V-6 with a little more power and torque than the outgoing engine. INFINITI already has a new nine-speed automatic transmission so that may possibly be the new transmission that will replace the old seven-speed unit.
Off-Road Capabilities
The QX80 has always outshone its competitors in terms of ride quality. INFINITI has been using independent suspension at the rear which offers better ride quality and can still pull up to 8,500 pounds. The next-generation QX80 will continue with this setup and will have an even better ride quality since it will be re-tuned.
The next-generation INFINITI QX80 is poised to be a symbol of luxury, technology, and performance, exemplifying the brand’s commitment to creating vehicles that cater to the modern driver’s needs and desires. While there are still specific details on the SUV that are under wraps, the new QX80 will continue to push boundaries and redefine what a luxury full-size SUV can offer.
